TIMIO is an educational audio and music player that uses magnetic discs to unlock a library of curated content, from nursery rhymes and lullabies to fairy tales and vocabulary, all in 5 different languages: ENGLISH, SPANISH, FRENCH, GERMAN and DUTCH.
TIMIO consists of two parts: the Portable Digital Audio Player and the Interactive Content Discs that activate the content on the Digital Audio Player.
The discs magnetically attach to the player so even the little ones can easily do it all by themselves.
TIMIO comes with up to 20 different discs with a broad range of fun and engaging content for multiple ages, on various subjects, and in 5 different languages.

Unlike other kids' audio players on the market, TIMIO is interactive.
Not only does it allow children to select the content they’d like to play, but with the vocabulary discs, TIMIO will also quiz the child to find an item. Children are more engaged and this interactivity reinforces the learning process.

Because of TIMIO's wide range of disc topics, it can serve as their companion for years to come. TIMIO can be used from birth to grade-school. The lullabies disc will soothe your baby to sleep from day one.
As babies grow, parents can play their favorite nursery rhymes to them, and later, as they start developing their motor skills around 18-24 months, they'll be able to easily place the disc of their choice and tap an image to play their favorite songs or start learning vocabulary.
While TIMIO will be certified for ages 3+, there are no small parts that can cause choking hazards, and parents can help them play with TIMIO as early as they wish.
All the TIMIO content is available in 5 languages: English, Spanish, French, German and Dutch.

We have developed, iterated, and tested TIMIO for over two years to ensure we have fully realized all of our design goals. We have gone through multiple versions of TIMIO, each better than the last.

Shipping is a long, complicated process, and we’re focusing on avoiding pitfalls that happen when setting shipping fees upfront.
Following the lead of a lot of other toy Kickstarter campaigns, we will add on the shipping cost through our pledge manager after the campaign has ended and you've given us your shipping details. This will be done at cost, so we won't make any money from shipping.
We have identified a shipping partner. We have identified the approximate shipping cost to be in the €19-25 range per unit (1 TIMIO + 10/20 discs + storage bag) depending on your location. This is not including tax and duty fees in certain countries, which are out of our control. We will always keep shipping information transparent and work hard to make the process as easy as possible. We will try to give you more details on shipping cost and time as we have more information on the subject.
TIMIO has been under development for two years by a team with a proven track record of creating and delivering technology products and businesses. This is, however, our first product for children and, rightly, there are unique risks and regulations in the children's market.
Bringing a physical product to life is challenging! To address this challenge, we’ve been working with top manufacturers of both toys and audio products on product design, sourcing and scheduling. In fact, the factory we have chosen is a contract manufacturer for one of the largest toy companies in the world. We have explicitly chosen not to take risks on production techniques, materials or components to avoid manufacturing and sourcing issues.
That said, there are still quite a few challenges and risks in front of us, the main ones we have identified below:
- Production: we have a fully functional prototype but still need to convert its design into a mass production compatible one. The production partner for the consumer product has been selected. The success of our Kickstarter campaign and the number of devices to be manufactured will have a significant impact on the selection of the parts for manufacturing and for the manufacturing itself. This selection may lead to unforeseen delays. We are however confident that we can quickly overcome any issues that might come up during the manufacturing process.
- Certifications: TIMIO is both an electronic product and a product for children. We want to make sure it will be up to all and every standard set in the various countries it will be shipped to. The certification process can be complex and long and may lead to additional delays. We plan on working with specialized consulting companies to help us go through that stage.
- Other points that may impact our timeline and cause delays: safety concerns, quality concerns, hiccups in the regulatory approval, financial risks
The audio content of all presented discs has already been created, thus we don't foresee any issues regarding content. We want you, as a customer, to have access to a comprehensive library of music, stories and educational material that your little one will love, so we didn't want to take any risks here!
Our current delivery estimates remain tentative, but as a team we promise to work hard, day and night, to meet our project timeline and present TIMIO in a well-scheduled manner. Comes what may, updates on the manufacturing progress will be a high priority for us and we will keep you informed of any updates and challenges we may encounter and our plan to deal with them.
